Shophouse Revisited

This report seeks to examine the enduring relevance and adaptive reuse of historic shophouse buildings around the world. It has a particular focus on revitalisation efforts that differ from the dominant mode of profit-driven developer led demolition and reconstruction of building stock. Instead, this report seeks to highlight examples where individual property owners, community organisations or local governments have worked with the existing built fabric, finding opportunities to regenerate spaces in response to evolving community needs.
